Sindelfingen, October 2016 – The subsidiary of engineering and consultancy service provider MBtech Group is celebrating its 20th anniversary. MBtech EMC GmbH provides a unique range of services for checking the electromagnetic compatibility of vehicles and is well positioned to tackle the challenges presented by future drive concepts.
An innovative and, in retrospect, also extremely successful decision was taken by MBtech GmbH in 1996 with the establishment of subsidiary EMCtech GmbH. This company was to solely focus on testing the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of sensors, control units and entire vehicles. In October 2016, what is now MBtech EMC GmbH celebrated its 20th anniversary at its Waiblingen location. The EMC expert has tripled its turnover in the past ten years, opened a new site in Baden-Württemberg’s Mönsheim in 2010 and provides customers from the automotive industry, among others, with a unique range of services in Southern Germany.
EMC testing has become significantly more important in the last few decades. Since the 1990s, the share of electronic features included in vehicles has continued to rise. It has thus become increasingly important to also ensure the reliability of the electronics-based safety and driver assistance systems, such as ABS or distance control radar systems, in collaboration with other sources such as transmission systems or mobile phones – with the main aim of optimizing the vehicles in relation to possible interferences. With the rise of hybrid and electric vehicles, MBtech EMC opened a new testing laboratory in 2010 in Mönsheim with an electromagnetic, emission-free roller dynamometer. To date, this is the only independent EMC laboratory for high-voltage testing on vehicles with alternative drives.
The expertise of MBtech EMC GmbH is well known, going far beyond the realm of the automobile industry. The engineers and technicians working for the EMC specialist today collaborate with customers from the special vehicle manufacturing sector, the electrical industry, automatic technology, medical and communication technology, as well as the aerospace sector. The company has already excelled in a number of interesting projects involving special challenges for its broad customer base. For example, testing an electron microscope for Carl Zeiss AG, the setup of which lasted approximately 2 weeks due to the complex cooling process and electronics. A nine-axle aircraft tug from Liebherr or a 96-ton mobile crane were also to be found in the testing laboratories of MBtech EMC GmbH.
